WOMEN'S HEALTH

In Eastern medicine, women hit a turning point every 7 years in which big changes occur in the body. These stages are a great general check point for us to make sure that women are progressing and transitioning through life smoothly. They must be supported at every step of the way, because an issue with one part of the stage can lead to an issue with all the other stages, just like how a broken tyre causes the whole car to slow down and ultimately unable to move forward.

There are 3 key stages in a woman's life that are extremely important for us to check up on:

  1. At around 14 years: Are they menstruating? Have all their physical developments into adulthood started to come to bloom? Are they full of energy and fearless?

  2. At around 21-35 years: Are they having healthy and regular periods? Are they able to conceive if wanting to? Do they feel alive and vibrant?

  3. At around 49 years: Are they transitioning through perimenopause or menopause smoothly? Are they supplementing and supporting the natural decline in hormones through plentiful nutrition and healthy lifestyle? Do they have the energy to enjoy the slower life and prepare for a happy retirement?

In general, women may be more susceptible to hormonal imbalance in their system, because a variety of hormones are continually in ebb and flow to allow a cycle to form in the physical body in preparation for conception. However, it can also be a great advantage in that our menstruation cycle and other hormonal symptoms are a great indicator of the health internally without having to rely on blood tests and imaging.

At Healing Tree, we use acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Eastern lifestyle and dietary advice to support women who need re-balancing to be able to focus on other life goals and reach their full potential in life without dreading another period.

Common illness patterns which â€‹may present in women  include:

A woman’s health is the barometer of her environment. It is moulded and shaped according to her evoultion in the womb and the social, cultural and ecological environment of her childhood. It is created out of her relationships, her joys and traumas. It is grounded in the quality of her nutrition and the purity of the air and water around her”.
